Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Definition

PTSD (e.g. Post-traumatic stress disorder) is a mental health problem that some people develop after experiencing or witnessing a life-threatening event, like combat, a natural disaster, a car accident, or sexual assault.

Treatment

Our goal at SAVT is to provide the necessary resources and therapy interventions designed to help Veterans on the road to recovery.  There are two main types of treatment, psychotherapy (sometimes called counseling or talk therapy) and medication. Therapists sometimes combine psychotherapy and medication as the best intervention. Treatment can be different for different individuals.
